Mizhhirya ski resort
Mizhhirya is located about 35 km to the southeast of Volovets, which has a train station on the Kiev-Uzhhorod line. Taxis at the train station can take you there.
The village has one 400 m long tow lift with an 85 m drop — good for intermediate skiers. However, Mizhhirya seems to be fairly unknown and out of the way of most skiers.
Recently a new, much bigger ski area appeared. This one is right outside of town next to the road towards Khust and promises to be quite interesting — when there's snow!
The mountain is called Makovytsia and rises to over 750 m, which is 300 m above the valley floor. There is a chair lift (wow!) to the top of the mountain and several different routes down that are up to 2300 m in length — not bad at all for Ukraine. Supposedly slopes are groomed, and there is also a parking lot with about 20 spaces and a small cafe. Here is a map of the slopes.
